The European Space Agency‘s programme organized on 10th December 2019 within the New Space Economy European Expoforum. The event gathered entrepreneurs, scientists and administrations interested in transportation issues. “According to the European Union Road Federation, the European road network is worth over 8,000 billion euro,” said Karol Opara, technical manager of the ASPEN system, in his presentation. “Letting it depreciate faster than necessary means huge societal losses, so it’s instrumental to make evidence-based decisions”. Satellite navigation enables easy, network-scale road condition evaluation based on smartphones leading to an economical solution for local administrations. Discussion during the “Future of Mobility” panel was fuelled by the questions about crowd-sourcing and high-accuracy localization methods.
